Sony Ericsson has released a Cyber-shot phone with a 16.4MP CMOS sensor
on the popular Japanese carrier KDDI. Called the Cyber-shot S006, the
latest Sony Ericsson phone is definitely attempting to wrest the crown
from Nokia N8
– the reigning cameraphone. Of course, in the world of digital cameras,
it is a long accepted fact that megapixels don’t always mean everything
in image quality. The N8’s extra large sensor pixels do help, as well as the 28mm wide angle lens.
The Sony Ericsson
Cyber-shot S006 has an ISO sensitivity of 12800, a 3.3-inch capacitive
touchscreen, 1GHz Snapdragon processor, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
connectivity, FM radio, and inbuilt-GPS. The S006 would be sporting SE’s
proprietary OS, of which there are no real details, just like the phone’s global pricing and availability.
